Maine has always called to me. I think there’s something just fun about exploring to the very edge of something. In this case the something is our country.

We got the chance to explore the best of Maine in Acadia, New England’s only National Park. We were worried that this late into October and this far north, the peak of fall colors would be past. As you can see in the video, I think we got pretty lucky.

What didn’t require any luck was catching incredible views of everything from mountains to rocky coast lines and islands and pristine lakes. In fact Acadia is one of only two places on the eastern coast of the U.S. where the mountains reach all the way to the sea.

We weren’t even an hour into hour first hike in Acadia before Elizabeth was talking about getting a rental/vacation home in the Mount Desert Island area. The beauty is truly entrancing. The park is literally a must-see.

Don’t forget we have 2 contests going on right now! Enter the drawing for a National Parks Monopoly game from USAopoly. Use #switchbackstyle to share your National Park stories for a chance at a print from Purple Moose Basics like the one above.

It’s been a little over 15 years since I went there. Absolutely stunning! Thank you so much for sharing the video! You really did get lots of fall colors in the trees! A rainy Halloween here in St. Louis. Enjoy your day!
