Lassen Volcanic National Park, located in northern California, has so much to offer. It’s one of the only places in the world where all four types of volcanoes are located together. Beautiful alpine lakes dot the terrain, wildflowers blanket the meadows, and sub-surface hot water creates some crazy boiling/bubbling effects.

When we started researching the park, about a week before visiting (hashtag on top of things), we quickly realized we’d miss out on most of what the park featured. The road running through the park was covered in about ten feet of snow, and wouldn’t be opened until about June. The only opened campground was also covered in ten feet of snow.

What we didn’t realize was how much we’d still be able to see in such a limited area of the park. Our business at Lassen is not finished, but we did manage to enjoy a solid, relaxing two days exploring what was accessible in the park.
